Location
Nestucca Bay Waldorf School

is located in the small town of Nestucca Bay. Nestucca Bay is located at the junction of the Pacific Coast Highway (101) and the Little Nestucca Highway in Coastal Oregon. We are an hour south of Tillamook, and 45 minutes north of Lincoln City.
The school is located in the old Nestucca Bay Elementary School and is next door to the well-known Nestucca Bay gardens. The elementary school was closed in 1995, and the Nestucca Bay Garden Foundation purchased the school, restored it, and now rents it to the Nestucca Bay Waldorf School.
The Nestucca Bay area is famous for its beautiful views, fishing, temperate climate, long beaches, hiking and other recreational opportunities.
Students at the school take advantage of the rural environment through field trips, gardening and our boating program. We actively encourage our students to develop consciousness of the eco-system is which the school is located. The Little Nestucca River runs through the school’s property, and students learn to kayak, canoe and sail on the river as part of the curriculum.

Philosophy
Nestucca Bay Waldorf School

  • Believes that the most important part of any child’s education is that it happens within a community of caring and involved adults.
  • Believes that children need to grow up with a sense of place. They need to know how to live in the world, and have a developing sense of their own role in caring for and about that world.
  • Believes that Waldorf Education provides a curriculum that promotes creativity, a spirit of intellectual inquiry, and a well-rounded, multi-cultural approach.
  • Believes that the relationship between teacher, child and parent should be developed, cherished and at the heart of all education.
  • Believes that children should be allowed to be children. They should have opportunities to learn through play, movement, and experimentation. They should learn to be life long learners.
